NW AL- Abandoned, homeless Great Pyrenees needs rescue for the holidays
****Crossposting appreciated****
Location: Cherokee, AL (NW Alabama) (2 hours north of Birmingham, 2 hours southwest of Nashville, 2-1/2 hours southeast of Memphis)

Meet King, an approximate 3-4 year old Male Great Pyrenees, who has been spending an unknown amount of time begging for food at the local Piggly Wiggly. I met him there yesterday when my mom and I went for groceries. According to the torn, matted, dirty fur around his neck, it looks like he's possibly been chained up and has gotten off the metal chain.
He was going up to the cars as they drove up and looking at the people begging for food. I had a pop tart which he gently but gladly took. I bought him a small bag of food and put it in a location safe from cars. This grocery store, in particular, is located on the very busy highway 72.
I was not able to get him in my car last night but I did go back this morning and he was about a block away from the store. I got him in the car with vienna sausages and he's temporarily safe.
Specifics about him:
- approximately 3-4 year old, white male
- not neutered
- vacc history unknown (but DDB will update his vaccs for receiving rescue)
- slightly underweight
- heartworm unknown
- approx. 100-110 pounds
-very gentle and calm
- has not jumped my 5 ft. fence
- good with other dogs
If receiving rescue is located around Birmingham, AL, I will be in B'ham Saturday morning around 10 AM but I can help drive him to meet other rescues Tuesday or Friday.
Please call Amanda Green at 256-627-0900 if your rescue has a spot for this big, huggable boy!!
PLEASE CROSSPOST, URGENT

Hi, my name is Sarah Portella. I am currently a student at Montevallo
getting a biology major in order to attend veterinary school. I work at
an animal clinic on hwy280 called Riverview Animal Clinic. Monday
morning, I found a female stray who was under weight and had hair
missing in various spots on her body. She also had scar tissue covering
her ears and on her face. My friend, Erin Mccombs and I managed to catch
her and I brought her up to my clinic where she was checked out and I
have the records of that visit. She was tested negative for heart worms
and doesn't have parvo. We couldn't identify the age, but she isn't that
old. I paid for her first vet visit as well as for her to get her first
round of shots. She is currently being held at the clinic where I work,
but I am having to pay for that as well. I am desperately trying to find
a home for her or at least a place where she can go and get a home. I
would take her in but I live with my parents and we can not afford
another animal. My mom recently lost her job so she can't help me out
any and my dad owns his own business and he is barely staying afloat. I
desperately need help and Erin suggested that maybe ya'll could help by
taking the dog in and finding her a home. She is very sweet and her
temporary name is Lula. I just know that should would make a great pet
and keep someone company and happy is she was given this chance. I've
already done as much as I can to help her, but if I can't find her a
home or a place where she can go, I don't know what else I can do.
Because I can't keep her and I can't afford to keep her at the clinic.
So please help Lula and I. I have also attached a picture of her when we
first found her, I can get you updated photos also if you would need
them and I have taken photos of all her ouchie spots if those are
needed.
Thanks, Sarah Portella
